Lauran Kerr-Heraly

In September of 2007, the executive board appointed Lauran Kerr-Heraly to serve as the Graduate Student Representative. She worked along side Jared Burkholder, former grad rep, until September of 2008 when she assumed full responsibilities. Lauran is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at the University of Houston. She holds a B.A. in Social Sciences and an M.A. in History from Sam Houston State University, and the Women's Studies Graduate Certificate from the University of Houston. Her dissertation research focuses on African American women in medicine.  Her husband, Eric, just finished his M.A. in English and teaches at a college preparatory school. Outside of academia, Lauran enjoys traveling and plays Scrabble obsessively.
